Introduction

Welcome! I’m glad you’re here. I’m Michelle. I love working with clients who are somewhere on their journey of becoming a mother/parent — whether considering, pursuing, grieving, or juggling — and needing to process all the emotional and relational complexities that bubble up in the meantime. My sweet spot is supporting mothers and gestational parents of young children in the months after parental leave ends, when the common postpartum supports taper off, and they are grappling with who they are and what they need now. I welcome folks to show up as they are. I love collaborating with my clients in how to take in care and curiosity without judgment. My goal with all my clients is to teach them how to internalize my care so that they can offer kindness to themselves consistently. I received my Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology in 2019 from The Seattle School of Theology & Psychology. My therapeutic work settings include a group practice, boarding school, residential, international non-profit, and university counseling center. I am Perinatal Mental Health certified and have advanced Perinatal Mental Health training through Postpartum Support International. In addition, I have received advanced training and mentorship in narrative therapy, neurodiversity, and trauma-informed care. I am a relational psychotherapist and my approach is informed by attachment theory, EFT, and Psychodynamic theory. I utilize somatic and trauma-informed practices and I work from a strength-based and social justice framework. I hold a Mental Health Counselor license (LH61506784) in Washington state. In my work, I consult regularly with colleagues, and actively pursue continuing education in my areas of focus. I am a Community Member of Shelterwood Collective for professional development support as well as Headway for third-party insurance billing services for my clients. I offer relational psychotherapy for individual adults who are navigating the “now what?” of change. I particularly focus on postpartum maternal mental health therapy support for mothers and gestational parents who are processing the transition of becoming a mother/parent. Also, I partner with a perinatal yoga teacher to co-facilitate restorative, process groups for mothers and gestational parents of young children around the changes to their bodies, relationships, and identities — a process known as Matrescence. We have offered Maiden to Mother: Matrescence Mini Retreats and hope to offer similiar experiences in the future.
