I am a bilingual and bicultural Licensed Professional Counselor and Clinical Counselor Supervisor in the District of Columbia. My specialty is working with individuals, couples and families with a history of trauma, mood disorders, anxiety, acculturation, life challenges and transitions. I use a combination of theoretical approaches including Cognitive-Behavioral, Trauma-Informed, Psychodynamic and Integrative/Holistic. I have over 20 years of experience working with diverse populations including children, adolescents and adults of different backgrounds - especially Latinos, immigrants, African-Americans and individuals from the LGBTQ+ community. I am a Supervisory Level trained therapist in TF-CBT (Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and trained in PCIT (Parent-Child Interactive Therapy). As a National Certified Counselor through NBCC, I am also a member of the American Counseling Association and the American Mental Health Counselor's Association National Association and DC Chapter. I have served as member and interim Chair of the DC Board of Professional Counselors. Throughout my career, I have developed various community mental health programs in the DC Metropolitan Area. I was born in El Salvador. At the age of five, my family and I moved to Washington, DC. I am passionate about multi-cultural identities and storytelling, a long time DC resident, and dog lover.
