Morgan Lavender, LCMHC, CCTP, is the owner/founder of Mind Garden Therapy, located in Holly Springs, NC. As a therapist, I take a laid-back approach to treatment, meeting people where they are in their healing journey. I consider the therapeutic relationship the most important part of the therapy process and you’ll find that I make it a priority to develop a safe, trusting relationship where you can feel comfortable with me. I try to show up as my authentic self with the people I work with, leaning on humor and appreciating the use of a good swear word here and there to emphasize an emotion. During my time as a therapist, I have developed a passion for supporting individuals who are navigating challenging relationships, unresolved trauma or grief, and anxiety. I work with people to help them gain insight into how past experiences may be impacting their daily lives, providing a safe, supportive space to process and repair those negative experiences. I address areas of communication, attachment style, nervous system regulation and boundary setting, working with my clients to empower them to use their skills to overcome difficult situations, enhance positive coping skills and promote resiliency. Throughout my trauma informed training, I gained a deeper understanding of the ways our nervous system responds to different situations and stressors, especially as a parent! I utilize this area of therapy to work with parents to not only understand how their child’s brain develops and responds to the people and environment around them, but to enhance understanding of their own. I offer ways to improve the relationship and trust building between parents and children through co-regulation, boundary setting, effective communication and mental flexibility. This has shown to increase children and teens’ capacity for emotional and behavioral control. While I consider myself an integrative psychotherapist who matches my approach to the individual needs of my clients, I place a strong emphasis on the mind/body connection through somatic, mindfulness interventions. I also integrate cognitive behavioral and emotion focused techniques to address distortions, worry thoughts, negative self-talk and emotional reactivity.
