Introduction

I feel lucky and grateful for the opportunity to do this work. Therapy for me is a labor of love, a privilege; something that consistently humbles me and sharpens my perspective. As a child, I was on the quiet side, absorbed what was happening around me, and generally felt things deeply. I think that lended itself to a curiosity about why we think/feel/do the things we do. I was lucky enough to have family that embraced and nurtured that curiosity. In high school I took a psychology course that gave that curiosity meaningful context, a more pointed direction, leading to my studying psychology in college. There, I had the privilege of interacting with and learning from a professor who was also a clinician. Aside from his knowledge, what resonated with me was his soft tone, positive regard, and his ability to make me feel calm. I remember wanting to help people feel that way. After spending several years doing case management for community mental health, which was hugely formative, I completed my graduate degree in Clinical Counseling. Thereafter, I continued my work in community mental health, which included outpatient and intensive home-based work, provided therapy at Akron Children’s Hospital intensive services for many years, contracted at a private practice, and am excited to now be running my own practice. My clinical areas of interest/strengths include mindfulness/meditation, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and exploration of the existential. Outside of work, I enjoy time with my dog, family, friends, have a passion for music, movement, and the outdoors.
