I am an energetic and passionate clinician, originally from Miami, Florida with Caribbean roots. I’ve long viewed therapy to be a safe place, and I am humbled to be able to provide this type of support for others as a licensed psychologist. Mental health was not often discussed in my family or our social circles during my childhood. Despite this silence, I saw the loud need for therapeutic support across genders, age groups, and cultures in my community. After pursuing psychology at The Florida State University, I decided to pursue my doctorate as there were so few black women in the research and clinical fields of psychology at that time. Since making that decision over 15 years ago, I’ve provided treatment and healing support for over a few thousand clients through individual, group, family, and couples therapy services. I’ve worked in community mental health agencies, family therapy settings, private practices, hospitals, university counseling centers, detention centers, child behavior modification summer camps, substance rehabilitation agencies, and with various mental health programs and grants. I am a Certified Group Psychotherapist, and I provide supervision and trainings to mental health practitioners. My clients share that they look forward to our sessions and truly feel that they have an ally in the therapy room. They know that I will challenge them, but that ultimately, they feel heard and genuinely cared for, and leave with a much better understanding of themselves. In our therapy sessions, there can be everything from tears to laughter. I encourage and embrace the autonomy and trust shared between myself and all of my clients. I would value the opportunity to serve you as well. If you feel that we would be a good fit to work together, reach out through my Monarch profile or via www.anewpathtowellness.com to get connected.
