I specialize in working with older adults, people with chronic illness, and caregivers. I help people who are struggling with coming to terms with an illness or disability, managing the stresses of life with these conditions, or dealing with emotional distress near the end of life. As a clinical social worker, I have 10 years of experience working in the healthcare field, primarily with older adults, and was inspired to start my practice by seeing the need for more support for this population. I also work with the general adult population on concerns such as depression, anxiety, adjustment disorder, and OCD. I have an interest in working with people with sexually diverse identities. I rely on the person-centered approach to psychotherapy, supplemented with techniques and ideas drawn from acceptance and commitment therapy. I’m also inspired by the mindfulness-based idea that we can learn to live with difficult thoughts and feelings by intentionally choosing how to respond to them. My approach is based on the idea that everyone has the capacity to solve their problems, and that my role as therapist is to help you access that capacity. You can expect from me: • Acceptance • Empathy • A calm, level presence • Clear, direct communication • An approach that will gently encourage you to identify and express your feelings and thoughts • A structure based on goals that we identify together. I want to see you move towards the change you want, not continue therapy indefinitely. I work with individual adult clients in the state of Maryland via telehealth. I accept private payment and Medicare. I’d be happy to talk with you to see if I would be a good fit for you - please feel free to give me a call or send a secure message.
