I approach these troubling experiences using a precisely focused cognitive-behavioral perspective, together with a deep sense of compassion for the struggles of the body, the mind, and the spirit. My background training has focused on cognitive-behavioral approaches to disorders of mental health, including cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I). CBT-I is recommended as the first-line treatment for adults with chronic insomnia by the American College of Physicians.
