I have been providing counseling services for over 8 years and my current focus is individual therapy with the adult population 18 years and older . My initial passion for counseling came when I realized how many people were struggling with mental health issues and that a lot of people have never been able to share their experiences in a safe nonjudgmental environment. I saw that their was a great need for people to learn healthy ways of dealing with emotions and wanted to work to remove the guilt/shame that can come with certain emotions or mental health issues. My theoretical approach is CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) where I help a person to work on identifying and decreasing the thought patterns, core beliefs, and behaviors that promote stress, anxiety, worry, anger, depression, etc.. The individual will learn skills to increase healthier thought patterns, increase self-acceptance, increase stress tolerance, as well as processing and expressing emotions in a healthy way.
