Every person can grow when offered compassion, thoughtful support, and the opportunity to learn new skills in evidence-based therapy. To help my clients achieve their goals, I actively research their needs and build each person a scientifically grounded care plan. My treatments are informed primarily by cognitive-behavioral therapy and behavioral psychoeducation, with solution-focused and interpersonal elements. I support my clients in their learning, whether they want to improve their mental health, make the most of their relationships or professional life, or cope with chronic illness. I am proud to work with people with diverse cultural backgrounds, sexual orientations, and identities. My work emphasizes personal enrichment through cognitive insight, problem solving, emotional growth, and individual empowerment. I am a psychology professor at Whitman College, and my training in clinical psychology is from Emory University and Columbia Medical Center. I am a member of the American Psychological Association, the Association for Psychological Science, the Washington State Psychological Association, the American Association of University Professors, and Phi Beta Kappa. *Services are provided through Insight Psychology, PLLC, which is not affiliated with the institutions of higher education and professional organizations named above.
