Hello! My name is Rachael Trimbur and I am here with you on your treatment journey however that may look. I pride myself on being judgment and bias free. I take a very trauma-informed and strengths-based approach. I am trained in EMDR and have been using this approach for two years. I am a licensed clinical addictions counselor and a licensed clinical social worker with more than 10 years of experience working in the dual diagnosis field. I began my career working with substance use disorders and have a lot of experience in this area. I am also a qualified Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) and complete substance abuse evaluations as scheduled. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Office of Drug & Alcohol Policy & Compliance, a SAP is a person who evaluates employees who have violated a DOT drug and alcohol program regulation and make recommendations concerning education, treatment, follow-up testing, and aftercare. This also includes individuals working for the FAA, FRA, FTA, FMCSA, PHMSA, and USCG. My experience includes working for community mental health centers, doing crisis work, working in an employee assisted treatment program, and program development for a substance use and medication-assisted treatment facility. I pride myself on staying up-to-date on research and expanding my knowledge. I specialize in addiction treatment, trauma-based therapy, working with first responders, helping those 18-25 with life transition choices and an LGBTQI+ advocate and supporter. I understand that one size does not fit all and pull from various modalities to help those I work with meet their goals. The most important thing I have learned over the years is to learn from those I work with. I take a very person-centered approach. As Stephen Covey wrote, “Seek first to understand, then to be understood.”
