Introduction

Dr. Lohmann earned her doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervision from North Carolina State University, where she also completed her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Master of Science in Counselor Education. With over 25 years of experience in school and clinical mental health counseling, Dr. Lohmann has dedicated her career to supporting children, adolescents, parents, and educators. Her deep passion for counseling drives her mission to “help others transform their lives from the inside out.” As an EMDR-certified therapist specializing in trauma-informed care, Dr. Lohmann is committed to guiding individuals through healing and personal growth. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Lohmann is a professor mentoring students pursuing a master’s in clinical mental health counseling. She is a board-certified licensed clinical mental health counselor supervisor in North Carolina (#S3954) and a licensed professional counselor in South Carolina (#4802). Dr. Lohmann is also the cofounder of Harbor Counseling and Consulting, PLLC and All Purpose Living, LLC. Dr. Lohmann is a respected author and speaker, with her work featured in prominent national and international media outlets such as the Associated Press, Chicago Tribune, Seventeen Magazine, Scholastic, and US News and World Report. She has authored 10 books, translated into eight languages, and regularly contributes to Psychology Today and other media. Dr. Lohmann is dedicated to making evidence-based practices accessible, practical, and relevant both in her writing and clinical practice. She provides both brief and long-term therapy to individuals and groups, utilizing cognitive, behavioral, trauma-focused, and mindfulness-based approaches. Her work addresses a wide range of issues, including academic challenges, anger management, anxiety, bullying, depression, stress management, complex trauma, and social and interpersonal concerns. An EMDR-certified provider and an active member of the EMDR International Association, Dr. Lohmann also holds several certifications, including Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS), Board Certified Telemental Health Provider (BC-TMH), and Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF). Her commitment to the profession and her ongoing contributions help advance the field of mental health counseling.
