Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counseling Richard Burleson
Specialties: Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, Adjustment Disorder, ADD/ADHD,

Introduction

Richard holds a Master of Arts degree in Mental Health Counseling from the Family Institute at Northwestern University, Evanston, IL. Richard obtained a MA in Humanities from the California State University, Dominguez Hills, and a BA in Psychology from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Prior to working on the mental health space, Richard’s experience includes military service and business leadership. He lives with his wife and children on their family horse ranch in rural Minnesota. Richard focuses on helping adolescents and adults that find themselves feeling stuck and desiring change in patterns of thought, feeling, and behavior that no longer benefit them. These issues may be leading to problems in relationships, unclear or negative feelings of self, and sad and anxious feelings. While Richard’s approach to therapy integrates mixed evidence-based treatments to optimize care, he favors a person-centered/Rogerian therapeutic approach believing that every person has the wisdom, the ability, and the desire to reach their potential through personal growth and change. He partners with clients to be an understanding companion on their trip of exploration toward the relief and increased well-being they desire.
