She then moved to Iowa and started working on a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University. She is licensed as a mental health counselor and a certified alcohol and drug counselor. She has had various experiences including milieu treatment for children with severe behavioral challenges and attachment disorders, inpatient and outpatient substance abuse treatment programs, community outreach, and community mental health. Roxanne enjoys working with clients of all ages, empowering them to achieve their goals. She has experience with LGBTQ +, dual-diagnosis, pregnancy/post-partum, children, adolescents, early and middle adult, and geriatric. She is trained in Alcohol and Drug Specific therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy with attachment focus (Iowa – PCIT), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and various play therapy techniques. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family, reading, and music. Kirsten completed her bachelor’s degree at Simpson College in sociology and criminal justice and master’s degree at St. Ambrose University in social work. She has worked in a variety of settings including residential care, hospice, outpatient mental health, behavioral intervention services, domestic violence shelters, and youth shelters. Kirsten enjoys working with clients focusing on empowering them to make change of all ages. She has experience working with a variety of struggles in children, adolescents, early and middle adulthood, geriatric, family, marriage, and LGBTQ+. She is trained in cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, dialectical behavioral therapy, sand tray play therapy, parent-child interaction therapy with attachment, aggression replacement training, and a variety of play therapy techniques. Kirsten enjoys spending time with family, reading, playing games, and everything Disney and Harry Potter.
