After a career in education, I transitioned into the field of social work by working in foster care. After obtaining my MSW at Arizona State University in Tucson, I began working as a psychotherapist with people living with HIV/AIDS. I have also worked with hospice patients and their families, the LGBT community, older adults, and couples. My approach to psychotherapy is mostly informed by humanistic and psychodynamic theories. In general, this means that I approach therapy as a process of allowing people to uncover their authentic selves, taking into account their histories, emotions, experiences, relationships, families of origin, unconscious, and desires. My approach is exploratory, non-directive, and most focused on helping people gain insight into how they relate to others and their own emotions and experiences.
