Compassionate Curiosity is the Cure. This is the simple and straightforward explanation of my philosophy and approach to psychotherapy. My primary model for treatment is Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, a classic model of treatment that focuses on reshaping core beliefs about self and others that often have deep and complex roots. I am a serious person by nature and take my work very seriously. Patients can expect challenging questions, thoughtfulness, and strong focus on getting to the bottom of unproductive thought patterns and habits (Curiosity), but with humor and caring (Compassion). As a clinical social worker and person committed to equality, I interweave my understanding of gender, sexuality, race, ethnicity, culture, family dynamics, trauma, privilege, poverty, and each person’s unique set of life experiences as they powerfully shape a person’s life and the therapy process. I consider myself a generalist, being able to help patients with different problems and with different circumstances. Fit with one's therapist is the best predictor of a positive outcome. Feel free to give me call so we can briefly chat to discuss what you're looking for in a provider and see if I might be a good fit for you.
