I pursued social work with the desire to help individuals, but primarily to assist people in recognizing their true potential. Their true potential to be a functioning, successful, healthy, and positive person, even in this chaotic world we live in. Since embarking on my journey of being a therapist, I have worked primarily with children, adolescents and young adults. I have dealt with issues from anxiety, depression, school refusal, self-harm, suicidal ideation, social skills, behavioral issues, family conflict, interpersonal relationships, self-esteem and so forth. My experience has involved school based settings, as well as intensive out patient settings. In my practice I place a strong emphasis on coping skills. I work clients to educate them via cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectal behavioral therapy, and mindfulness based therapy. I feel that the most important thing is for a client to feel comfortable and safe. I believe comfort and safety are two significant factors you need in order for the therapeutic process to develop. My practice provides a safe environment that is free of judgment, as well as a place for growth. Therapy should not feel serious or hindering, but rather liberating and hopeful.
