Hi! My name is Sam, I am a licensed marriage and family therapist. I specialize in working with individuals, families and couples (ages: 5+) who are seeking to improve their lives. My specialties include: family & relationship conflict, behavioral challenges, anxiety, depression, trauma, sexual abuse, life adjustments, and other mental health challenges. I use various therapeutic modalities, including Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) , Internal Family Systems (IFS), Strengths Based Therapy and Family Systems. As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I recognize the influence that a family system and relationships can have on an individual. I appreciate the importance of including a systemic perspective in the treatment process. I have more than 9 years of experience in the mental health field working with adolescents, children and their parents. While finishing my undergraduate degree, I worked in residential treatment facilities. After I graduated with a Bachelor of Psychology degree in 2016 from Weber State University, I worked for a non-profit, The Utah Youth Village, as an in-home behavioral specialist. I worked with families involved with the Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS), the Department of Juvenile Justice Services (DJJS), and Juvenile Probation. As a Marriage and Family Therapy Intern, I worked in a group home as a therapist for sexually reactive children ages 6-15 in the secure placement foster care system. I graduated from Capella University with a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2021 and I have been practicing in a private practice setting since. When I am not meeting with clients, I enjoy cooking, especially smoking meat. I actually went to culinary school! I love watching movies, playing games, cheering on the Utah Jazz, the LA Dodgers, and watching or playing sports. I most enjoy spending time with my wife, kids and our collie. Finding the right therapist can be difficult and sometimes overwhelming! I would love the opportunity to meet you to see if we would be a good fit.
