Hey, I’m Sam (she/her), a professional counselor and board-certified art therapist. You may also know me from previous work as Sam Baggott. I believe that each individual has the skills needed to succeed in life and may benefit from a supportive space in which to discover and develop these skills. I think we can all agree that change is hard, and sometimes it is easier to stay in the same rhythm than to take a risk and make a change - even if that change can make a significant positive impact on our lives. I approach therapy from a psychodynamic, person-centered approach that explores your lived experience and how this may contribute to current challenges. In forming a trusting therapeutic relationship, we can dive deeper using traditional talk therapy or creative expression to better understand your relational patterns and identify the need for change. From there, I offer elements from CBT, DBT, positive psychology, and self-compassion to support skill building in pursuit of client-identified, individualized goals. I cannot do this work for you, however, I can support and guide you in finding the tools that work best for you and implementing them in your life accordingly. I recognize the importance of forming a trusting relationship to best support clients in navigating their individual roads to success. I bring willingness and ability to collaborate and creatively problem solve to help motivated individuals get the most out of their lives. In our work together, you’ll feel supported and challenged, and I will help you reach the goals you have set for yourself. I will encourage you to challenge set beliefs that may no longer serve purpose, engage in healthy risk taking, and set boundaries with yourself and others. My primary areas of focus include depression, anxiety, adjustment to change and associated grief, and stress.
