My goal is to remove the stigma behind mental health for many communities and to help people openly discuss their mental health through therapy. It is normal to be apprehensive about seeking therapy and your motivation to seek therapy does not have to be the same as someone else’s, nor do things need to be bad before beginning therapy. My approach is always client focused. I work with my clients on building their self-esteem and problem-solving abilities, while empowering them to gain self-awareness on how to navigate their feelings, behaviors, and thoughts. My belief is that no one deserves to heal alone. I am well practiced in various treatment models, such as motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectic behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and psychodynamic therapy. I have extensive experience working with a diverse population and fluently speak Spanish and Cape Verdean Creole. My specialties include depression, anxiety, stress, grief, trauma, major life transitions, race-related stressors, immigration/first-generation concerns, among many others. I offer a free 15-minute phone or video consultation to discuss the therapy process and see if we are a good fit.
