I’m a mom of two active boys, with a love of vintage and science fiction. I have also been a mental health professional for about seven years. Previously, I was fully immersed in the nonprofit world working with families throughout Washington state to gain access to services. After 15 years, I found myself seeking services for my son. At five years old my son started gaining attention for being different. It was not easy for me, an educated woman, to access services for my son. After more than a year of struggling with the educational system and doctors my son was finally diagnosed. My son was my inspiration for going back to school to get my Masters in Social Work (MSW). In learning about ADHD and how helping to overcome barriers to education and social development I found the need to help others. Helping parents understand their children's needs and how they can help is powerful and meaningful.
