Hi there! I’m Sara, a self-proclaimed no bs, come-as-you-are therapist seeking to change the narratives about what therapy can and “should” look like. As a child of Middle Eastern immigrants, late diagnosed neurodivergent person, member of the polyamorous community, and queer woman, I enjoy supporting these minoritized communities through my clinical work. I consider it an honor and privilege to be able to join with my clients in critiquing and examining modern systems of oppression and the dominant narratives that seek to keep certain people down, particularly in ways that impact our mental health. My clinical practice is centered around social justice, anti-racism, and acknowledgement of intersectionality. I am mindful of how the mental health field has caused particular harm to people of marginalized identities and seek to be a therapist that decolonizes mental health practice. I approach therapy as a collaboration between client and therapist, specifically drawing from narrative, feminist, and relational cultural approaches. I see my clients as the experts of their own lives and defer to clients to make decisions and come to conclusions that are aligned with their worldviews, values, and identities. I am gentle yet direct in my approach, and support clients in growth through insight rather than through a heavy emphasis on teaching tools and skills. I am a pretty casual and informal therapist and invite the same level of authenticity and “radical humanness” from my clients. I see the therapeutic relationship I share with clients as a sacred connection and am intentional to frequently check in with clients about our relationship and the therapeutic process as we move through our work together. I work primarily with adults, including individuals, couples, polycules, and any other non-traditional relationship configurations. My particular populations of focus include consensual non-monogamy, BIPOC issues, the LGBTQIA2S+ community, and neurodivergence.
