Have you ever felt hopeless about the possibility of feeling joy again? Or maybe you have told yourself there are limits on what the future could be like for you? Have you ever thought to yourself something along the lines of, “I’m never going to have a healthy relationship”? Have you ever told yourself that the best you can do in life is to settle? Maybe you don’t feel worthy of beautiful relationships and experiences. As human beings, we can all find ourselves feeling stuck at times. Sometimes, this is due to painful experiences from the past that we haven't had a chance to fully heal from. Other times, we have difficulty moving forward after losing a loved one, relationship, goal or dream. Or maybe, it’s the critical things that we constantly say to ourselves, perhaps without even realizing. When we are in a place of feeling threatened or feeling immense pain, oftentimes the things that we tell ourselves are simply untrue. In such times, it can be incredibly beneficial to have someone or something outside ourselves to help us remember that although life can be difficult, we can overcome the difficulties. In life, we will experience pain and failure and we can also experience satisfaction and enjoyment. I believe with my whole heart that each one of us is able to build a life that we want to live, in spite of the challenges we will face. Kefi means “the spirit of joy, enthusiasm, high spirits and frenzy, in which good times and passion for life are expressed with an abundance of excitement, happiness and fun.” The idea is that having moments where we experience kefi, can help guard us against the despair that can happen when we face one challenge after another. I have had to do a lot of my own work over the years and I strive to implement what I teach in my personal life. I believe that we are all in a lifelong journey of growing and evolving as we come to understand more about ourselves, others and the world. I really value learning and growing both as a person and therapist. I graduated from Rowan University with a master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I am licensed in the state of New Jersey as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). My experience includes working in hospital based trauma programs. I also have experience working in the outpatient group private practice setting, prior to starting Find Kefi Counseling. I am foundationally trained in DBT. I have also completed Level I training in Trauma Themes with the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute. I have received training in treating complex trauma via the structural dissociation model from Janina Fisher, PhD. Additionally, I have completed Level I training in the Gottman Method Couples Therapy. I utilize my training and experience to treat clients struggling with anxiety, depression, PTSD, developmental and attachment trauma and relationship problems. It is an absolute pleasure and privilege to be a therapist. I am in awe of the ability to hold space for healing, hope and growth in the therapy room. It is my desire to make every person I work with feel accepted, cared for and supported. I value connecting with my clients and I believe that therapy is relational. I would absolutely love the chance to work with you and to guide you in finding ways to experience more moments of joy in your life!
