Our struggles come from getting stuck in old ways of protecting ourselves from difficult feelings, memories, or thoughts. In our sessions, I help uncover these protections, recognize their triggers, and find new, constructive ways to cope and move forward. It is this process of working through difficult memories and accepting difficult parts of yourself that will allow you to open the door to change and healing. I believe that a trusting relationship between therapist and patient is the key to effective therapy, and I view myself as an active contributor to the therapeutic process, partnering with you to create an understanding of your unique challenges. I work to foster an open, caring, and compassionate environment for patients, which is informed by a strong theoretical orientation, ample research, and solid training. And, because development is key for both of us, I continue to strengthen my knowledge and skills through continued education, trainings, and regular consultation with peers.
