Introduction

Hi there! I’m Sarah Zamora, a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker currently in the process of transferring my clinical license to Maryland. I hold a Bachelor’s of Science in Social Work from Troy University and a Master’s of Social Work from The University of Texas at Arlington. With licenses across Texas, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, and Maryland, I’m excited to be a part of the Serenity Place therapy team. My journey as a social worker has been full of diverse experiences. I’ve worked with at-risk youth at Big Brothers Big Sisters of El Paso, provided school-based mental health services in Georgia, and offered telehealth support to rural communities in South Carolina. I’ve also volunteered with military communities and supported individuals in an inpatient behavioral hospital. I’ve had the privilege of working with individuals and families facing a wide range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, PTSD, and families experiencing transitions like divorce or foster care/adoption. I am an ally and advocate for marginalized communities, and I strive to provide a welcoming, non-judgmental space for all individuals. My approach is holistic and flexible, using a blend of therapeutic techniques such as CBT, DBT, and elements of play and art therapy to meet each person’s unique needs in a safe environment. While I create a supportive, creative space for healing through art, play, and music when needed, I also offer traditional therapeutic approaches for adults and teens who prefer to navigate challenges and stressors through talk therapy or other methods. I work primarily with children ages 4 and up, but I also love supporting young adults, veterans, older adults, and families navigating life transitions. As a trauma-informed clinician, my goal is to partner with clients, focusing on their strengths and resilience, to help them lead fulfilling lives. I’m thrilled to join the families of Southern Maryland on their therapeutic journeys, and I look forward to starting this exciting chapter with you!
