Hi! I’m Sarena Korni (she/her). I am a psychotherapist in Chicago, IL and I currently practice at Roamers Therapy. I strive to build meaningful and impactful relationships with anyone who decides to begin individual or couples therapy with me. As we are developing our therapeutic relationship, I seek to understand and demonstrate respect for your identities, your perspective of the world, and to provide a therapeutic space that empowers you to find peace, balance, and security within. You and I will set the tone of our sessions. Our sessions will open and close with open-ended questions, “temperature checks”, recaps, or debriefs in which we will both express whatever concerns, emotions and thoughts come before or during conversation. This will allow both you and I to remain grounded in what is most important to you and your well-being. In between opening and closing, I am focused on supporting you by listening and interacting non-judgmentally, with empathy, humility, while affirming and acknowledging the strength that vulnerability may require. My areas of interest include anxiety, depression, self-esteem/body confidence, trauma/PTSD, and grief. As a therapist, I believe that our earliest experiences inform our present. I encourage my clients to examine how their past is impacting their present. Similarly, I always take into account how past and present trauma impacts one’s mental health. I primarily provide Person-Centered therapy (PCT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic therapy, and trauma-informed therapy. With my couples therapy clients, I also bring in many elements of the Gottman method. I believe that you are capable of healing, growth, and success with the right support and knowledge. My hope is to be that support and provide the knowledge that you seek.
