Welcome! I am Shandra (pronounced: Shawn - dra) Guzman Park. I use she and they pronouns. Some of the identities I hold include: a child of immigrants, queer, Chicana/Latinx, cisgender female, wife, tia/aunt, and pet and plant parent. I believe each of us can over come our difficulties, learn new skills and reach our potential. Sometimes we just need the space, time and support to get there. I am an active participant in the therapeutic relationship, working so you are deeply heard, seen and understood. I honor your experience and knowledge, while I focus and build upon your strengths. This looks like smiles and laughter whenever possible, encouragement, and the bonus of an occasional dog and often a cat cameo. I practice decolonizing therapy, which means I consider what I learned from who and focus on what feels most helpful to you. I present therapeutic offerings to: connect with past experiences and inner wisdom, identify why you have the thoughts and feelings you have and how to change or accept them, and connect with who you truly are while building feelings of safety and the ability to manage difficult feelings. You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
