Introduction

INDIVIDUAL PSYCHOTHERAPY | RELATIONSHIP PSYCHOTHERAPY | CONSULTING Hello and thank you for being here! I'm Shannon Maricielo (she/her), a Licensed Marriage and Family Associate (LFMTA) in Washington state. I provide in-person therapy at my office on Bainbridge Island, WA (in Kitsap County and a 35-minute ferry ride from downtown Seattle). However, I am licensed to provide Telehealth therapy for people located anywhere in Washington state. My work is focused on helping clients strengthen any number of dimensions in their relationships. These can include emotional connection, safety and intimacy, communication, conflict resolution, self- and other-confidence, trust building and repair from infidelity. I am trained in systems theory, which means I approach therapeutic work through the context of your relational systems, interactions, and feedback loops that create and perpetuate the problems, patterns, and behaviors you are seeking to resolve. This often translates to facilitating change within the system in contrast to only within the individual. While this may seem particularly helpful for couples therapy or family therapy, it is very effective for individual therapy as well. My academic background is complemented by practical experience working directly with people of diverse background and relationship challenges. My style is fundamentally holistic and empathetic, direct and honest, and focused on your needs and wants. I work to gain understanding of you/your needs in context of your family and/or your partnership(s). I care deeply for your overall well-being and I work to ensure you know this and feel cared for throughout our work together. I work with individuals, couples, and multiple-partner constellations / families. I have specialized experience working with people in the LGBTQIA+, Armed Forces, and Veteran communities. I tend to use an integrated therapeutic approach that mainly employs aspects of Attachment Theory, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy, Bowen Family Systems Theory, and Narrative Therapy. However, there are times when elements from Psychoanalytic Therapy, Gottman Method, Cognitive Behavior Therapy or Dialectical Behavior Therapy provide more precise tools and resources for the situation. You can learn more about me and my training by visiting my Psychology Today profile. Type the following information into your web browser to learn more or visit the website directly and enter my name into the Find A Therapist field: https://www.psychologytoday.com/profile/492486. I am pleased to be a member in good standing of the International Centre For Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT) and both the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) and the Washington Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (WAMFT). As an LMFTA, I participate in regular and ongoing supervision, provided to me by Andrea Anderson. You are welcome to learn more about Andrea by visiting her website: https://www.connectiontherapycenter.com.
