Introduction

Sharon Gunda is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts who obtained her Master of Social Work degree from Boston University. She has extensive experience working with neurologically diverse individuals of varying abilities. Sharon has worked in emergency services in hospitals, community based mental health and school settings. She has experience working with individuals across the lifespan and enjoys her teenage clients just as much as older adults in their eighties and nineties. No matter the age, Sharon's desire is to provide her clients with a culturally sensitive space to share their struggles, find hope and meet their goals. She has worked with clients from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds but her areas of interest are working with immigrants and marginalized, underserved groups/BIPOC. Sharon believes every individual is different with a unique set of circumstances therefore her therapeutic approach is always tailored to each client’s needs, personality and developmental level. Treatment approaches Sharon uses are eclectic and tailored to the unique individual and they include: trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), CBT, motivational interviewing and dialectical behavioral therapy. Sharon has experience with a wide range of areas of concern including immigrant issues, trauma, foster care and adoption, domestic violence, self-esteem, life transitions, anxiety, depression and other mood disorders. Whenever necessary, Sharon will always make referrals and/or collaborate with medical and psychiatric providers for further evaluation and treatment. Christian Counseling Sharon works with clients from any or no spiritual or religious background. For those who value and pursue a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and are seeking Christian Counseling, know that Sharon’s personal relationship with Jesus is paramount in her life. She will always invite the Holy Spirit to join your sessions by incorporating prayer and scriptures. Sharon believes that the Holy Spirit is the supreme counselor and He is welcomed into the counseling relationship to provide wisdom and discernment when applying scripture to life’s problems.
