Introduction

My name is Shauna Huberty, and I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Iowa and have over 6 years of experience in the field of social work & brain health. I have experience and training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy(CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy(DBT), Complex Trauma Certification Levels 1 & 2 (CCTP I&II), and received a Professionals Certification in Teletherapy. I have worked with adults of varying ages who experience depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, trauma recovery, grief and loss, and relationship difficulties. Our sessions will be a collaborative experience. My top priority is to create a judgment-free & safe environment. I have a flexible approach that is client-driven. By working together, you will develop effective coping tools, grow insight into your personal strengths, and create long-term change. My therapeutic approach might be different from other counselors. I believe each person is unique and requires a unique treatment plan. Along with evidence-based treatment models, I use a Brain Health approach instead of Mental Health, Behavioral Health, or Mental Illness. Brain Health integrates what you eat and drink, how much you exercise, how well you sleep, the way you socialize, and how you manage stress. I believe Brain Health issues need to be treated the same as any other physical disease, such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes. The core values guiding my practice are: Building Insight, Creating Connection, Growing Compassion, & Cultivating Authenticity. — Shauna Huberty, MSW, LISW
