My areas of expertise include individual, couples/family and group counseling with a special interest in depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, chemical dependency, as well as dual diagnosis. My counseling philosophy is based on the belief that the ultimate goal of counseling is highlighting the client's strengths and utilizing those strengths to decrease vulnerability/risks and developing areas of limitation. I maintain that your self-awareness, self-esteem, mental health, sobriety, and independence are of the utmost importance to me. While some clients need only a few counseling sessions to achieve these goals, others may require more sessions. Clients include persons who experience difficulty resolving personal and interpersonal problems, as well as making decisions that greatly impact their lives. As a client, you maintain control of yourself and you may end our counseling relationship at any point, and I will be supportive of that position. If you are dissatisfied with my work, I will help you find another counselor with whom you might be able to work with effectively. You are the expert of your life, not me.
