Welcome! I am grateful for your presence here and commend you for prioritizing your self-care. As a California Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), I am born and raised in California and have lived throughout the Bay Area. I am married and have two children. I identify as a cisgender woman (she/her) of Filipino and Japanese descent. I graduated with my Bachelors in Counseling Psychology from Chapman University and later received my Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology from John F. Kennedy University, in 2015. Prior to working in this field, I worked for over a decade in Corporate Finance, leaving a Real Estate Underwriting position that entailed being a Loan Officer. I sought out to become a therapist, because of my personal experience in overcoming adversity and felt compelled to share my resilience with others. I enjoy helping others and getting to know my client's. Since 2015, I have worked with clients of all ages, young and elders, families and couples and what stands me apart from other clinician's is that I am knowledgeable of community resources through my own network efforts to collaborate care with various agencies throughout the bay area. My therapeutic style is warm and friendly, genuine and personable. I use strength-based tools with positive psychology strategies to ask exploratory questions to help you think about your challenges and utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) interventions to help you identify alternative ways of thinking that can help you problem solve realistic outcomes. I support you in developing skills in emotional intelligence as I believe in the importance of recognizing your feelings to manage your behavior. As your collaborator, I take the role of a coach, by helping you practice strategies through the use of visual aide worksheets during our time and even practice through role playing to support you in practicing skills with me before efforts are made out of session. Please do not be intimidated with the process. I have been told my sessions are pretty fun and informative. Currently, I am offering only mental health therapy through telehealth video sessions for adults aged 18 and older, seeking a therapist to support with: life challenges, including but not limited to: work issues, life transitions, caretaker burnout, anxiety/depressive symptoms, low self-esteem, effective communication skills, stress management skills, processing grief/loss, interpersonal challenges, marital conflict and trauma and or medical recovery. I applaud your efforts in seeking help, whether this is your first time OR a return from previous experiences. I am proud of your willingness to break generational patterns and to take a chance in gaining strategies to improve yourself and your relationship with others. Thank you for considering me to support you on this transformative journey. Be Well, Shennen N. Pugh, LMFT
