Welcome! I am grateful for your presence here and commend you for prioritizing your self-care by seeking support in speaking to a professional about your current challenges. As a California Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), I have 10 years of clinical experience. I am born and raised in California and have lived throughout the Bay Area. I identify as Pacific Islander and Asian and a mother of two beautiful children. I graduated with my bachelor's in counseling psychology from Chapman University and later received my master's degree in clinical psychology from John F. Kennedy University, in 2015. Prior to working in this field, I worked for over a decade in Corporate Real Estate Finance as a Loan Officer and Mortgage Underwriter. I sought out to become a therapist, because of my own personal experience in overcoming adversity and childhood trauma and felt compelled to give back to others and dedicate myself to a career to empower others. I have worked with clients of all ages, diversity and what stands me apart from other clinician's is that I am genuinely attuned and invested in the care of others. I am knowledgeable of community resources, experienced in working in multidisciplinary teams, maintaining professional alliances with treatment providers as well as school officials. My therapeutic style is collaborative, genuine and personable. I use strength-based tools with positive psychology strategies by asking exploratory questions to help you think about your challenges so that you can develop healthier perceptions. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) interventions to help you problem solve realistic outcomes and overcome self-defeating thought patterns. I support you in developing skills in emotional intelligence, by helping you recognize how your emotions impact your thoughts and behavior and coach you with establishing a healthier perception of your emotions. As your collaborator, I take the role of a coach through praise and empowerment. You will be given homework and tasks outside of session to support your readiness in change. Please do not be intimidated with the process, I will be with you as a guide and supporter. Currently, I am offering only mental health therapy through telehealth video sessions for adults aged 18 and older challenged with life stressors, including but not limited to: work issues, trauma, life transitions, caretaker burnout, anxiety/depressive symptoms, low self-esteem, interpersonal challenges, marital discord/separation as well as medical recovery. I sincerely admire your efforts in seeking help whether this is your first time OR a return to the space. I am proud of your willingness to break generational patterns and to take a chance in gaining feedback to enhance your wellness and improve relationships. Thank you for considering me on your transformative journey. I look forward to hearing from you. Be Well, Shennen N. Pugh, LMFT 111268
