Introduction

I’m a professional counselor and teacher of mindfulness meditation living with my family in Madison, Wisconsin. Like you, I've experienced many of life's challenges and transitions—I've raised two sons, changed careers, navigated shifting family dynamics, lost loved ones, and explored the early stages of my own middle age. The nurturing and supportive professional help I received during some of the roughest times in my life inspired me to become a professional counselor myself. I’ve discovered that no single philosophy or intervention holds all the answers to life’s many challenges. When you and I work together, we’ll draw from a variety of counseling approaches including: Somatic Psychology, which tells us that the physical sensations we experience in our bodies hold deep meaning and amazing transformational power. Mindfulness, which enhances psychotherapy by teaching us how to be fully present with our moment-to-moment experience in a curious, non-judgmental way. EMDR Therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), a method of processing trauma and PTSD that has been proven to reduce the negative effects of distressing thoughts, images, emotions, and body sensations. As a Level II certified EMDR therapist, I have extensive experience using EMDR therapy as an extremely effective treatment for PTSD as well as trauma-related anxiety and depression. Emotional resourcing, which enables us to access our innate sense of grounding, resilience, and self-compassion. Good old-fashioned talk therapy, because nothing else matches the healing power of a trusting, intimate relationship with another human being. I also offer video counseling, online therapy, or TeleTherapy, via a secure TeleHealth video platform for individuals who are unable to attend in-person sessions.
