Introduction

My name is Shirley Barthelemy and I am Licensed Therapist in both Florida and Colorado. I specialize in Divorce Recovery, Over the years, I have worked with clients who have been diagnosed with co-occurring disorders (mental health and substance abuse disorders) for over 10 years. My passion is to help my clients discover new possibilities and purpose through empowerment and self-discovery, despite what they may have experienced emotionally, mentally and physically. My goal is to help my clients learn how to navigate through life transitions and cope with change in a healthy way. I work as a guide to help women and their families develop a vision of the future they desire to have. I understand that every client is unique, therefore she uses therapeutic approaches/techniques that tailor to each client to meet their specific needs. I create a therapeutic atmosphere where they can feel safe an experience a sense of validation and freedom to express themselves without being judged and re-victimized. I help my clients practice self-love and recognize their importance despite their painful past experiences. My biggest strength is helping clients adjust to change/life transitions. Change can be very stressful, especially difficult changes. However, it can also influence personal growth. Just to name a few, I use various treatment modalities such as CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, strength-based and client-centered therapy to teach my clients how to successfully deal with life stressors. These therapeutic approaches can produce positive results such as an increased sense of self-confidence and positive self-esteem. These skills taught can help to better prepare them for their next phase in life. My website is: www.holisticladycounseling.com
