I am Sierra Roberts, owner and therapist at Roberts Counseling and Trauma Healing, PLLC. My approach is very laid back and conversational, with a touch of mindfulness. I believe therapy should feel comfortable and safe, because things get tough when we start to open up mental wounds. I spent the first half of my career working in community mental health as an Adult Outpatient Therapist where the majority of my clients were working on anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder, among many other concerns. One common thread between all my clients was trauma. As humans, we tend to bury our emotions from those experiences, but eventually, it needs to be dealt with. After seeing clients using only a talk therapy approach, I wanted to go a step further and I became trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), specifically for those clients who are really ready to address their trauma. Those who are sick and tired, of being sick and tired. I understand that trauma, well, it sucks. Let's be really honest here. It SUCKS. It affects every part of who we are. Sometimes it affects us in ways that we don't even pay attention to anymore and THIS is where mindfulness comes into play. Simply put, I teach you to pay attention to the sneaky parts of trauma that make us unhappy and then if/when you are ready, we can create positive change through EMDR.
