Introduction

Hello and welcome to my private practice!  My name is Sohna Shook, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Missouri and an approved out-of-state Telehealth provider for Florida. I have been practicing for 13 years. I am passionate about the treatment of racial trauma, trauma, anxiety, grief and loss, stress disorders and anxiety disorders. If you are seeking a therapist for anxiety, trauma, and grief and loss treatment in Missouri or Florida, let me tell you more about my clinical experience and my practice. I have my undergraduate degree from Friends University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, and I received a Master of Education in Counseling from Wichita State University. I specialize in the treatment of anxiety, trauma, and depressive disorders. My training is in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT); the preferred and recommended treatment for anxiety disorders, depression, and grief and loss. While participating in CBT, you and I will explore your thoughts, patterns of thinking, and behaviors that may be unhelpful and negatively impacting your mental health. We will work together to reframe those negative "thinking errors" to get you back to a healthier, happier lifestyle. Under the branch of CBT, I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) which is one of the recommended approaches for working with those who are experiencing traumatic symptoms. In addition, Trauma-Focused therapy is a specific approach to therapy that recognizes and emphasizes understanding how the traumatic experience impacts an individual's mental, behavioral, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. From the initial appointment, you will gain a sense of hope and relief in knowing that you are able to take charge of your life again and reclaim your power. The greatest joy in my work is when my clients are able to see the progress in addressing their symptoms and taking charge of their life.   Contact me today to schedule your consultation at (816) 897-8979 or bloomwellness@therapysecure.com.
