ABOUT ME I am a therapist located in southeast Gresham, OR. I have a diverse social work background spanning 25 years that includes crisis, school, elderly, child, career, and trauma therapy, among many other things. I have lived in Gresham all my life (except for college), and live within ten minutes of all my family members, which I treasure. I identify as Christian, but I do not include that in my therapy practice unless the client initiates it, which I am happy to oblige. I am open to all beliefs, all experiences, all walks of life. We are on this human journey together, and all parts of you are welcome here. THERAPY STYLE My style is very Rogerian in nature, as is my overall personality. I take a hands-on, relational approach to helping clients reconnect with their authentic self, and live their best life. We will focus on how old wounds and patterns are currently impacting your present experience, and how to restore balance and calm to your system. Let's find your joy! I work with all manner of mental and emotional struggles (anxiety, depression, etc) and utilize a multi-model, highly eclectic approach to helping you heal and grow. If you prefer a certain treatment model or have a specific issue you wish to address, we can discuss that briefly by email and more in-depth in our first session. I am passionate about EMDR therapy (and its parent, the AIP model) and its healing power in the brain. I am certified by EMDRIA. I weave in principles from Cognitive-Behavioral, Narrative, Polyvagal, and Internal Family Systems models, among others. I specialize in single-event trauma therapy, including as an adjunct (if applicable) to your current work with other therapists. (Ex: you see Sally Jones LPC biweekly for depression but schedule several sessions with me to process a recent car accident, fire, etc.) SERVICES I accept both insurance and self-pay clients. Insurance covers most but not all services; we can discuss further if you request a service/session length that your insurance doesn't cover. The majority of my work seems to be in-office, insurance-based, 55-minute sessions (classic "counseling"), but I am open to many non-standard options, within my field's (social work, insurance, license) ethical and legal limits. I offer EMDR Intensives on an individual basis; these are largely self-pay of an agreed-upon, pre-paid amount. Intensives are where we basically spend a day together (with breaks), taking a deep dive into your healing journey, vs spreading it out over multiple sessions. I am open to destination-based, retreat-style intensives; inquire directly if that is something you seek. If you’d like to learn more, please email me to schedule an initial appointment; we can decide from there if we are a good fit and if you’d like to continue. I accept several major insurances and may be able to help you understand how your coverage works. I look forward to working with you, and for you!
