Thank you for your interest and consideration of the psychotherapy services of Sylvia J. Sandler, M.A., Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. If you found yourself here, there is a chance you are seeking support, acceptance and validation. Grief and loss are my areas of clinical focus and my passion. Whether you are grieving the loss of an important relationship, the end of a meaningful career, loss of employment, a miscarriage(s), the actual sudden death of someone close, losses due to COVID-19, loss of sense of self, and loss related to life cycle transitions, together we will explore and honor your emotions. We will collaborate on how to dial back the suffering now that loss has become a close companion. This is also true if you are grieving the loss of someone close due to suicide. I have extensive training and experience in providing supportive counseling to survivors after suicide. Additionally, I am committed to working on helping to empower caregivers to avoid caregiver burnout. As a Bi-Lingual Spanish Speaking Clinician, I am familiar with issues of acculturation and assimilation. Born in Mexico City, my immigrant background inspires my commitment to build significant cross-cultural connections influencing sustained collaboration, respect and understanding for all. Please contact me if you would like greater processing, adjusting, and acceptance in your life to help increase your sense of agency. Grief has no expiration date. Give yourself the space to be responsive to your grief instead of letting it be in control of you. Together we will try to integrate your experiences to move forward in your life. I invite you to let yourself find meaning and gain a sense of purposefulness in spite of your losses. Post traumatic growth is possible when we learn to manage symptoms of anxiety and/or depression that often accompany grief. Please call me when you decide you deserve to find joy and fulfillment in living again.
