Visit www.ComfyChairCounseling.com to learn more! The shift to telehealth has changed the landscape of therapy. Instead of coming to the office, I’m invited into your homes as well as into your lives. Although clients no longer join me in the office and get to appreciate the carefully selected decor, I still strive to create a comfortable and supportive therapeutic space in our virtual sessions. You see, if folks were still coming for in-person appointments, they’d see that I was wearing jeans and sneaks with my blazer. I chose the name “Comfy Chair Counseling” to represent my style and vibe. Although I uphold the highest standards of professionalism, I present authentically as a fully human imperfect individual. I don’t have any use for pretense and don’t believe it has any place in a therapeutic relationship. As a trauma specialist, I have cultivated a broad understanding of experiences and the biological responses that inform our mental-emotional well-being. I often share the latest research or study findings on any given particular issue. My personal background that provides me with a unique perspective and a commitment to cultural humility. I am dedicated to being a better ally to marginalized communities, lending my privilege and working towards anti-racism. Through an approachable and engaging style which brings humor, compassion and an unrelenting belief that things can and will get better into the therapeutic space, my goal is to help clients develop effective patterns of thought and skills in order to achieve greater success and satisfaction at home/school/work and in their relationships.
