Hello! I am Tara, and I am grateful to be part of your journey. I grew up in the summer camp world – attending as a camper for many years, and eventually working as a camp counselor for many more. Through experiences at camp, I came to understand significant beliefs about life: learning often happens best through play and connection, positive change is most supported when you are an active participant in the process, and, although failure is inevitable, through failure can come resilience. I believe we are all doing the best we can with what we have. And, perhaps most importantly, I believe everyone needs to be nurtured, cared for, and believed in. These fundamental beliefs guide my therapeutic approach with clients. My strengths-based, person-centered approach is derived mostly from solution-focused brief therapy, narrative therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and family systems therapy. I work with children, adolescents, young adults, and families, and specialize in concerns related to anxiety, self-esteem, challenging behaviors, grief, life transitions, trauma, and attachment. I welcome individuals of all cultural backgrounds and identities. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in North Carolina, as well as a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200) trained in Subtle Yoga and Wilderness First Responder (WFR). Through our work together, I hope to support your seasons of healing and your seasons of change – of movement – to help you grow in purpose, resilience, and self-compassion. I offer outdoor sessions and virtual sessions.
