ABOUT ME: My name is Teresa Goscicki, and I am the owner of Goscicki Psychotherapy Services, PLLC. I earned my Master of Arts degree from Wayne State University in Counseling Psychology in 2014, and I am a Masters Limited Psychologist in the state of Michigan (LLP). During my career, I have served clients in community mental health and private group practice settings. My background also includes earning a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology Honors from Wayne State University, and I've completed several additional trainings in the field of psychology to allow me to serve my clients in a number of ways. I like to consider myself to be a life-long learner, and I love learning new techniques and strategies for helping my clients. I am trained and have experience providing services to individuals facing a variety of different issues and concerns including, but not limited to: anxiety disorders; depressive and bipolar disorders; personality and attachment disorders, addiction issues; adjustment disorders; and individual treatment of relationship issues. I also have a particular interest in working with clients who struggle with perfectionism and feelings of shame or defectiveness. I currently provide therapy services for clients ages 18 and up via Telehealth or in-office. MY APPROACH & HOW PSYCHOTHERAPY WORKS WITH ME: While I am highly skilled in mental health assessment and diagnosis, I believe that a diagnosis is merely one tool for informing treatment. Regardless of diagnosis, it's very important to me to treat the individual rather than the label. I also strive to help my clients enhance and add value to their lives in addition to alleviating their bothersome symptoms. The alliance between client and therapist is one of the most important factors in therapy outcome. For this reason, I always work with my clients to build a collaborative professional relationship that is based on trust and mutual respect. I do this by showing my clients unconditional positive regard that honors their individuality and their ability to choose their own path (self-determination). I provide a warm, welcoming, and non-judgmental environment for my clients to explore and process their issues and concerns. I also encourage clients to learn and develop the skills necessary to create and maintain positive changes in their life long beyond their time in therapy. Specific therapeutic approaches that I frequently use include an integration of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Self-Compassion and Mindfulness-Based Interventions, Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Humanistic Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. SUPERVISION: As a master’s-level psychologist (LLP), I am required by the Michigan Board of Psychology to be under the clinical supervision of a fully licensed doctoral-level psychologist (LP) throughout the entirety of my career. This requirement for supervision and mentorship is a reflection of the extremely high standards set by the field of Psychology to ensure the best possible care for patients/clients. Supervision entails me meeting in-person or virtually with my supervisor / mentor for 2 hours per month in order to discuss any case concerns and to receive feedback on therapeutic approach and further development of clinical and professional skills. My current supervisor is Dr. Tracy Juliao, PhD, LP, NCC. Have any questions about my style, background, or the therapy process? Please feel free to ask! I am happy to offer a free 10-15 minute phone consultation to help you determine if I'll be a good fit. I look forward to meeting you and learning more about how I can help you achieve greater wellness in your life.
