Welcome to Sound Clarity Counseling! My mission as a therapist is to provide an accepting, safe and supportive environment for you or your child to move towards clarity. At the core of this is meeting each client exactly where they are at, which is why the therapy I provide is a process unique to each person. I work with adults, teens, children, and families on a wide variety of issues, listed below. I also have specialized training and a passion for working with neurodivergent populations including ADHD, Autism, and Sensory Processing related diagnoses. In terms of my therapeutic approach, I am primarily a client centered therapist, which means that I follow your lead instead of using directive techniques. I also know that as humans we are always evolving, and so my therapeutic approaches can be flexible to evolve with each client as they grow. In addition to more traditional talk therapy, I may use expressive and art-based approaches like the sandtray, directive and non-directive art making, nature walks, writing/poetry, role-playing, as well as music. I believe that these kinds of experiential and hands-on activities can support therapeutic change in a way that talk therapy sometimes can’t. I also integrate knowledge of human attachment and attunement that affects how we connect with each other. As needed, I also will use practical skills that can help clients move away from assumptions, and black or white thinking, feeling, and/or behaving. I know that thoughts really do impact how we feel and behave towards ourselves and others, and we may explore this during sessions. When I’m working with children this also involves working with caregivers. During parent/caregiver sessions I am curious, directive, and psychoeducational. Together we explore what challenges your child is struggling with, and how you can support them. For child sessions, I primarily use Play Therapy, and I am currently training to become a Registered Play Therapist (RPT). In addition to this, I am a certified Child Centered Play Therapist, and AutPlay certified therapist. YOU are not alone.
