Introduction

I listen with respect and curiosity. Psychotherapy can help you in becoming conscious of all parts of the self by improving self-awareness and self-expression, as well as sharing dreams, daydreams, metaphors, narrative stories, bodily sensations, intuitions etc. By blending elements from different approaches, treatment is tailored according to each individual client’s needs. I am rooted in humanistic therapy, which is a client-centered approach that emphasizes unconditional acceptance. Sometimes it’s painful to face things about ourselves or our situations that we would rather ignore. It's worth it to face them because it gives us the opportunity to look at things from a different perspective, to ask different questions, to challenge ourselves, and ultimately to get more of what we want out of life. Understanding where we've been and how we got here is important, but in order to feel better, we often have to do something different. In therapy we can learn to identify what the options are, evaluate the risks and benefits of different options, and make the best choice for ourselves. *** About Tess My pronouns are she/her/hers. I am originally from New Jersey and moved to Oregon in 2015 to explore life on the West coast and to broaden my experiences. I believe that interpersonal relationships are important both in and outside of my work. When not at work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, especially while travelling, camping, or on weekend trips to the woods or the coast. I also love to cook and try out new restaurants. Education I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADCI). I obtained my masters in clinical social work from Rutgers University in NJ. I specialize in working with several populations including adolescents, those identifying as LGBTQIA+ as well as Indigenous Peoples. *** Insurance Please note you are responsible for knowing the details of your coverage, and should contact your insurance company to ask the following questions before your first appointment: -Does my plan include mental health benefits? -Is Tess Krakoff, LCSW a preferred provider on my plan? -Do I have a deductible and how much, if any, has been met? -How many sessions per calendar year are covered? -What is my co-pay, or co-insurance, responsibility? -How much does my plan cover for an out-of-network provider?
