I am a licensed clinical social work psychotherapist in NY, RI and MA. I see clients via Telehealth throughout NY, RI and MA as well as locally in my physical office in Williamsville (Buffalo), NY. I bring over 25 years of clinical experience to this work providing evidence-based care, infused with dignity and respect, that honors the strengths and resilience of individuals. Working with adults and adolescents (14+ years old), I provide individual psychotherapy within a holistic and integrated model of care. I received my master’s degree in social work from the State University of New York at Buffalo and am a Board Certified Diplomate in Clinical Social Work. My philosophy in working with others is to work within a respectful and collaborative relationship, with a here-and-now orientation, that acknowledges your strengths and competencies. My belief is that you know yourself better than anyone and it is you who determines your therapy goals. I recognize that change is a process and occurs on a continuum or in stages. Where you are on this continuum will help guide our work supporting a very individualized treatment experience. I approach therapy with a sense of shared expertise - client and therapist together co-creating successful experience and outcome. In other words - you are not alone! I work within an integrated model of care which is strongly influenced and rooted in Relational-Cultural Theory (RCT), positive psychology, harm reduction, mindfulness meditation, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (MCBT), Mindful Self-Compassion and acceptance-based approaches all of which are now considered mainstream approaches to psychotherapy. I am also greatly influenced by the teachings of Lifestyle Medicine as they impact both physical and emotional well-being. Lifestyle Medicine is an evidence-based medical specialty that uses therapeutic lifestyle interventions including such things as a whole-food, plant-predominant eating pattern, physical activity, restorative sleep, stress management, avoidance of risky substances and positive social connections as a primary modality to treat chronic conditions. I specialize in the treatment of depression, anxiety and its spectrum disorders; ADHD; relationship issues; adjustment to life transitions; grief and loss issues, including pet loss; lifestyle and its impact on health and wellness; alcohol use; and sexuality concerns, including, but not limited to, those who identify LGBTQIA+, men dealing with compulsive sexual behavior, Internet pornography and erectile dysfunction (ED). As a trained yoga and mindfulness meditation instructor, I integrate mindfulness and psychotherapy. I earned a Plant-Based Nutrition Certification through Cornell University and am a member of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine and the American Board of Examiners in Clinical Social Work.
