We offer work with both a Licensed Professional Counselor (Travis) and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (Sarah) who is not able to accept insurance at this time but is in the process of joining insurance networks and is expected to be able to accept insurance by Feb. 15th, 2024. From Travis: I am compassionate and collaborative in my approach, understanding first-hand the vulnerability of asking for help and doing the work of growth and change. I help clients with many common struggles (e.g., anxiety, depression, etc.) make the changes they want for a more fulfilling life. I work with children as young as 10 years old up through adults in individual, couple, and family settings. I'm particularly passionate about helping high schoolers, college students, and twenty-somethings build identity and meaning in their rapidly changing worlds as they explore what adulthood holds for them. I have been practicing in the Harrisonburg area since mid-2018 after completing my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in Lynchburg, VA. When not working with people to encourage growth and hope, I spend my time reading authors like C. S. Lewis and Ernest Hemingway, figuring out how to best brew coffee, and running trails in the Valley. If you feel the next step is asking for someone to come alongside you on the path to healing, please reach out. Your willingness to care for yourself will be met with warmth and quick response. From Sarah: I enjoy supporting children, teens, adults, and older adults, though much of my experience is with adolescents. I have certifications in play therapy, music therapy, and nature therapy interventions. I focus my work on building strong emotional awareness based on a collaborative therapeutic relationship. I find fulfillment in my work when helping clients reach the goals they set for themselves. In my free time, I enjoy the local music and adventures the Valley offers. I love to bake, and I’m working on picking up some new habits, like crocheting :) Sarah can be reached at (540) 908-4173 or sholsinger@dogwoodridgecounseling.com
