Introduction

There is an old saying, “If you give a man a fish, he will eat for a day, but if you teach a man to fish, he will eat for a lifetime.” The Wisdom Tree Counseling approach is to help you, help yourself by uncovering the skills and strategies you need to be holistically successful. By providing a non-judgmental, trusting environment we engage in a therapeutic alliance that will promote feelings of safety and security to open up, peel back those layers, and address the root cause of despair. I am a mental health professional that has been practicing in the field for 24 years. I have found that a holistic approach to counseling contributes to therapeutic growth. Treating the whole person, not just the symptoms, will empower the body, mind, and soul to work collectively together building self-confidence and resilience. Therapy is my calling and I strive with a spirit of excellence. I acknowledge that people are the experts in their own lives. I listen to clients about their desires for treatment and collaborate with guardians. This multi-systemic approach is essential to the therapeutic process. By utilizing play therapy interventions and other evidence-based practices, I have the honor of creating a safe place for children, adolescents, and adults to deal with trauma and emotional issues through metaphoric play. Therapeutic play allows children to explore, grow, and heal in a non-directive manner, providing them with positive regard, acceptance, and understanding. In addition to play techniques, healthy alternatives are provided for dealing with dysregulation, attachment issues, anxiety, self-esteem, interpersonal skills, adjustments situations, depression, military life stressors, and any challenging life transitions." In forming a well built therapeutic relationship, each client feel unique and that the therapeutic process we embark on is tailored to them. A non-judgmental space is created along with empowerment and encouragement so that no matter the stage of life they are in, the results of this transformation will be powerful. At the end of every session, each client has hope that they will accomplish all of the treatments goals and objectives that have been identified in our initial session.
