Welcome! My name is Uzoamaka “Amaka” Ohai, and I am an associate clinical social worker at Therapy for Peace of Mind. I earned my bachelor's degree from Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, from there I went on to pursue my Master's in Social Work from the University of Southern California. I specialize in working with individuals, families, and offering support/processing weekly groups. For me, I view therapy as not solely a mere job per se, but rather as a strong vocation. It is a calling which I humbled by daily, based on my own personal experiences and how far along my journey I have come. I currently offer services to CA residents only via telehealth. First off, I am so grateful that you are here, and I am convinced that you are persevering in whatever heavy issues or circumstances that you have been experiencing currently or in the past. I want you to know that your unique story isn't over and I am committed to holding a calming and open environment for you to share what only you have walked through; and, the impact it has had on your life. You no longer have to walk alone on a path that can sometimes be unpredictable, lonely, intimidating, traumatic, and even scary. I will help guide you in making sense of the pivotal markers of your life, to include the highs and lows of your journey. Lastly as a trauma-informed therapist, I offer a culturally-sensitive/affirming, psychotherapy services with a caring, personalized and empowering approach. I will guide you in understanding that healing isn't always linear, however it is the daily small steps and changes we make along the way that will lead you to achieving your personal goals for the future you desire. I'm looking forward to beginning this life-changing healing journey together!
