Introduction

Thank you for reaching out to Reins of Empowerment Counseling. I am driven by the concept of empowering clients through their traumas. Often, we tend to let our traumas identify us as we try to move forward in our lives. I want to help clients by providing them healthy tools (reins) they can use to overcome their traumas and move forward through life by utilizing the strength they have gained from their experiences rather than allowing those experiences to identify them in a negative way. About me.. Valery graduated from UW-Milwaukee with undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Criminal Justice. In 2021, she earned a master’s degree in forensic psychology from Arizona State University and a second master’s degree in clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2024 from Capella University followed by gaining her LPCC. Valery spent 12 years as a Federal Law Enforcement Officer until 2020 when family needs at home outweighed her career. She has been a military wife for 15 years and knows how tough it can be living with, supporting, and raising kids in a house with a veteran that struggles with their inner battles. Outside of her practice, Valery and her husband founded Warhorse Ranch in Steamboat Springs. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, skiing, spending time with their horses, and expanding her knowledge in mental health.
