I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT) with over 21 years of practicing mindfulness, meditation, and other somatic disciplines. I am, also, a certified yoga teacher (in Hatha and Siromani Yoga), a Licensed Neuromuscular Massage Therapist, and a Hanna Somatic Practitioner. I am currently in the Somatic Experiencing (SE) program and shortly will be receive my certificate in SE work (I will complete the last portion of the advance module in July 2022). My primary theoretical orientation is relational somatic psychodynamic. However, I incorporate a variety of other approaches, styles and techniques depending on individual needs. These include CBT / DBT skills, EMDR, mindfulness based intervention, trauma informed treatment and psycho-education. I am committed to working with culturally diverse folx from every walk of life. While much of my experience has been centered on work within the LGBTQIA++ community and first generation immigrant-college students. I strive to create an open and affirmative (brave) space for all. I particularly enjoy working with adults, young adults and couples. I also have over 20 years working with children, teens and their families as a public school teacher. Eventually, I will integrate working with families and adolescents into my practice. We each come to therapy searching for things like change, understanding, and symptom relief. During our initial sessions you can expect me to take time to get to know you, and provide you feedback that you can apply to yourself and in everyday interactions with others. We will also look at thoughts, feelings, and reactions, that arise in therapy in order to work directly in the present moment. Whether you are looking for extra support during a challenging situation, or you simply want to change directions in your life, I look forward to us establishing a collaborative, therapeutic relationship.
