Introduction

Most of us seek therapy in search of happiness; we know it exists, but we can't seem to get there. I provide honest, straightforward feedback because your time is valuable. While therapy is validating and supportive, meaningful change requires moving beyond comfort zones. My expertise is working with couples and adult individuals. I specialize in helping people heal trauma, gain insight, strengthen self-awareness, correct problem patterns, and develop personal agency. As a licensed marriage and family therapist since 1995, I know the importance of healthy relationships with ourselves and others. Working with people is my passion. I studied psychology at the University of California, Irvine, and the University of San Francisco. In 2005, I relocated to Virginia, and completed postgraduate coursework at Virginia Tech. I serve on the Virginia BIP Certification Board, have authored several therapy books, and direct a certified Domestic Violence Intervention Program in Northern Virginia. My approach is direct with compassionate curiosity. Our adaptive coping strategies become protective shields blocking healthy relationships. Therapy requires the courage to be vulnerable while shifting from auto-pilot to intentional living. I provide a safe space to work through challenges, and will be with you every step of the way toward your goals. BOARD CERTIFIED DOMESTIC VIOLENCE INTERVENTION PROGRAM Our certified domestic violence intervention program provides trauma-informed care for voluntary and court-ordered participants. Rather than a ons-size-fits-all approach, our program is tiered from 24 to 52 weeks. We offer virtual and in-person services, day and evening times available. Our acceptance-based program fosters healthy boundaries, effective communication, mindfulness training, conflict resolution, emotional intelligence, parenting skills, attachment security, and compassion therapy.
